S2/Ep8: Dan Flores talks hunting and Wild New World

Red Wolf Pen and Ink by artist Sarah Rose

In this episode we welcome Dan Flores, author of Coyote America and a host of other great books to talk about his recent work, Wild New World, The Epic Story of Animals and People in America. The book won the 2023 Rachel Carson Environment Book Award and the 2023 National Outdoor Book Award for Natural History Literature.

Sarah and I actually met Dan at a library event near his home in Santa Fe when the book came out. It was our second date.

In this episode, we also announced the launch of The Hungry Forest Gallery & Press, our independent art and publishing project rooted in the Haw River watershed.

We created The Hungry Forest to give our artwork and writing a more lasting form: prints, books, and other handmade pieces that carry these stories into the world.
